In other words, we can say that traditional marketing is a type of marketing that uses offline methods for advertising their business to attract the audience. It includes references and building a network for marketing.
Traditional marketing is very effective for reaching the local audiences and for keeping the ads for a longer period. It is based on the fundamentals aspects even though it has evolved so much. It is based on the 4 P’s of the selling techniques i.e. Product, Price, Promotion, and Place.

- Impactful– Traditional marketing more impactful, easily processed, and easy to recall. They are entertaining and create an impact on the customer to buy your product.
- Permanent– Printed channels of marketing in traditional marketing are practically permanent. The ad in printed magazines, newspapers, pamphlets, or brochures will stay there until they are recycled.
- Hard to ignore– Traditional marketing has a way of being everywhere, it’s really hard to ignore. Especially in public, you are exposed to a huge amount of marketing in the traditional way.
Cons of traditional marketing:
- Hard to measure– Some of the methods of traditional marketing can be measured by tv viewership and billboard drive-bys, but they are still only estimates, they are not accurate and don’t give the real data about your reach.
- Expensive– Traditional marketing is expensive than digital marketing, you have to pay for everything to run a campaign. And the marketing company will charge you for every single flier or pamphlet they put.
- No direct interaction– In traditional marketing, you have no direct interaction with your audience/customer. You don’t know whether they are seeing your ad or not, u don’t clearly know (surveys are not that effective, to be honest) what they think about your brand or products.

Digital marketing came in its rising state in the 1990s and has been evolving since then. Nowadays it is considered more effective than traditional marketing because of its capability of reaching the target customer and giving brands several ways to engage with their customers properly.
Digital marketing uses the following channels/forms for marketing:
- SEM (Search Engine Marketing)– Search Engine Marketing is the form of digital marketing which involves the promotion of websites via paid ads to increase visibility in search engine result page.

- Inexpensive– Digital marketing costs you very little or sometimes nothing. It can be done by simply creating social media pages, or by emailing your customers and letting them know about you.
Cons of digital marketing:
- Potentially annoying– The results of digital marketing are potentially annoying because once a customer searches for some pearl hair clips her whole digital world is offering her those again and again and everywhere. Which sometimes get too much.
- Less permanent-Digital marketing banners, ads are less permanent, they depend on being clicked by the customer and if they click on something else or change the page, then they are gone from the screen.
- Constantly evolving– The digital world and digital marketing both are constantly evolving, so it’s quite a trouble for the companies to evolve with it. You have to understand the changes in the channels, algorithms, etc which is a lot to do (and kind of annoying).
